Per Diem Examples – Overnight Travel

Example 1

Kate traveled to Boston. She departed at 1:30pm on 5/12 and returned on 5/14 at 11:30am. No meals were provided. She is eligible for the following Per Diem:

Example 2

Melissa traveled to San Diego to present at a conference. She departed home on 7/1 at 5:30am in order to catch her 7 am flight and returned on 7/4 at 11:30am. The conference provided breakfast and dinner on 7/2 and breakfast on 7/3. She is eligible for the following Per Diem:

Example 3

Jessica traveled to Chicago to attend a conference. She departed on 10/12 at 7:30am and returned on 10/14 at 5:45pm. The conference provided the following meals: Dinner on 10/12, breakfast and lunch on 10/13, breakfast on 10/14. The per diem she may be eligible for is as follows:

Example 4

Fred traveled to Orlando to attend a conference. He departed on 8/17 at 10:30am and returned on 8/20 at 1:30pm. The conference provided dinner on 8/17, and lunch on 8/18 and 8/19. The hotel provided breakfast. He is eligible for the following Per Diem:

Example 5

Alexis traveled to Oak Brook, IL for training. She departed on 4/12 at 7:12am and returned on 4/13 at 9:20pm. Instead of staying at a hotel she stayed with family.   Her family provided breakfast on 4/13; no other meals were provided during this travel. She is eligible for the following Per Diem:
